Sofia's Appearance: Sofia is a humanoid female. She has long brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5'4" and she has a normal build for her height.
Sofia's Personality: Sofia is outgoing, kind hearted and eager to make new friends.
Canon Info: Sofia was a mutant who had the ability to manipulate winds, with this ability she had the power of flight and she could hear conversations that were happening from a long distance.
She was born in Caracas, Venezuela where she lived for most of her life. Her mother was killed in a riot while she was shopping for a present for her and she overheard news of her mother's death while her uncle was being informed about it, Sofia had been playing with her cousin a fair distance away and the news had reached her through the wind.
After her mother's funeral, Sofia was sent to live with her father in the United States (her uncle had refused to look after her, citing the fact that raising a mutant was too difficult on top of looking after his own children). Her father had previously been unaware of her existence and he made it perfectly clear at their first meeting that he was neither interested or that he had the time to raise a daughter due to his business.
Her father quickly laid out three ground rules 1) She would learn English before school starts, 2) She would get good grades and 3) She would not use her mutant power.
It wasn't long before Sofia started at a local private school but she had immense difficulty settling in despite her best attempts at trying to make friends. On top of this she also had to deal with her father virtually ignoring her existence (he had no idea that it was her birthday when she tried to do something with him on the day). After overhearing a couple of girls talking about the fact that no one liked her she ran off to her father's store and used her powers to destroy it. It wasn't long before the police arrived and she was arrested.
At the police station her father asked why she would do such a thing, her response to that was 'to see if you would notice', her father angrily replied that the whole state had noticed and that now that it was public knowledge that he had a dangerous mutant daughter he would be ruined. Her father had been prepared to send her back to Venezuela and had ordered Derek (his butler who was the only person who had actually shown any interest in Sofia's wellbeing and who had time for her) to pack her bags when Danielle Moonstar arrived saying that she knew about a place that was right for Sofia.
Sofia ended up agreeing to following Dani and joining Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning. She became part of the New Mutants Squad and was appointed leader after Prodigy (David Alleyne) refused to take it but it was soon apparent that she was not a gifted leader and so she became co-leaders with Prodigy.
Sofia was one of the many mutants who became depowered as the result of the events of the House of M. Following the loss of her abilities she left Xavier's and as of present canon she is currently a member of the New Warriors team.
Milieux Canon Info: Sofia was sent to Milieux after her father decided that sending her to boarding school would be better than having to deal with raising her and this way he could avoid any potential embarrassment over the fact that she was both illegitimate and a mutant. She has now been recruited by Dani Moonstar and is currently a member of the New X-Men squad at Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning.
